Refueling Your Soul: Time Alone With God by Thumper

Refueling Your Soul: Time Alone With God
by Charles F. Stanley
Have you lost your spiritual motivation and drive? Has ministering to the needs of others become a chore rather than the joy it once was? Do you feel bored at church? If so, you may need to renew your commitment to spend time alone with God.
Jesus knew that time alone with the Father was essential. As busy as our Savior was with His mission, He often withdrew to pray. In those private and intimate moments, Christ found strength for what He knew lay ahead.
Many believers call these one-on-one meetings with God "quiet times" or "devotions." They are a basic ingredient in a maturing relationship with the Lord. Quiet times change our approach to God from intellectual, detached, and "religious" to relational. When we give Him an opportunity to do so, the Father will speak to us through His Word and times of prayer in a real, personal way.
One by-product of a strong devotional life is a heightened sense of accountability to God. Spending time regularly with Him is strong motivation to keep sins confessed and bad habits in check. It is also a powerful incentive to resolve broken or damaged relationships. Holding a grudge against someone makes it impossible to have genuine intimacy with the Father.
When We Don't Draw Near to God
As with any relationship, communication is the key to knowing the Lord better. Where there is no communication, there can be no relationship. Where there is no relationship, there can be no trust. And the less you trust someone, the harder it is to follow that person. So a Christian with no devotional life generally struggles to have faith and obey the Lord.
Christ came not only to reconcile all people to God (2 Cor. 5:18-20), but also to establish oneness between mankind and Himself. Without a devotional life, the relational side of the Christian faith fades away.
Practical Steps for Effective Quiet Times
Here are some things that make my devotional life richer:
1. Schedule time with God. Like anything else you intend to do, devotional time usually won't happen unless it is planned. How often have you said to a friend, "Hey, let's get together," but failed to follow through? If you are like me, those plans seldom materialize. When I'm serious about getting together with someone, I make an appointment.
Specifically, before you go to bed, try to decide on a time and place to be alone with the Father the next day. Personally, I find mornings to be the best time to meet with God. I enjoy getting up early and beginning my day listening to and talking with Him. There is something extraordinary about focusing on the Father first thing.
2. Choose a place. If possible, conduct your quiet time in the same location every day. Eventually, this spot will take on special significance. Being there will affect your mood and your ability to concentrate. It will create an attitude of expectancy in your spirit.
Choose a place off the beaten path of your daily activities. It may be a spare bedroom, your living room, or even a closet. You need a place where the only thing you do there is meet with God.
I know a man whose special place is under the stairs in his house. A college student I know pulled his bed away from the wall and made that his spot. For me, it is a corner in my study at home. No matter where you live, you can find a spot to be alone with God.
3. Use a variety of methods. People often tell me that their personal devotions have become dry, routine, or even boring. God is certainly not uninteresting. And chances are, you are not dull either. So if spending time with Him becomes monotonous, the culprit is probably your method. The cure is to modify your routine.
For example, if you've been reading a devotional book, put it down, and instead, journal your thoughts and prayers. If you've been following a plan for reading through the entire Bible, take a break and read straight through one book of your choice. If you have been praying, supplement your prayers by memorizing Scripture. If your devotions have turned into in-depth Bible studies, find a devotional book to lighten things up for a while. Remember, this is a relationship. Look for ways to keep it fresh, and your quiet times won't become stale.

HBR - Caring and Sharing for Others by Thumper

This has been a busy time for all of us. I was thinking what can I do for health, beauty and relaxation on Christmas day. As I was looking for something, I stumbled across this story, The Christmas Envelope. Intrigued, I read the story and it touched a part of me that has not too happy this holiday season. I despise the month of December. There I said it and I meant it. I was Ms. Scroogette this season. Why must I show someone I love them with a present one day of the year? If I'm thinking of them throughout the year, why not send a note or a small token then?
Yes, I know I am spreading Bah humbug, please bear with me.
So I found this story. After reading it, I figured out the reason why both hubby and I have been so despondent this season. Usually, since we don't have any children, we love to get several angels from the Salvation Army and get presents for the kids. This year finances did not permit us to do this. Hence, the I really don't feel like celebrating feeling. After reading, the story put into prospective, that this season is not about what am I going to get whom, but what can I give someone I love that would make them truly happy. my husband and I not doing doing a charitable deed contributed to our feeling of unhappiness this holiday season. I also realize just because I was not able to does not mean others didn't. So with a heart filled with hope and a little more cheer than before, from my family to yours I wish you a joy filled day.
Love,
Thumper (and hubby too)

The Christmas Envelope
From Sowing Seeds Ministry
It's just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so. It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas---oh, not the true meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it-overspending...the frantic running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and the dusting powder for Grandma -- the gifts given in desperation because you couldn't think of anything else. Knowing he felt this way, I decided one year to bypass the usual shirts, sweaters, ties and so forth. I reached for something special just for Mike. The inspiration came in an unusual way. Our son Kevin, who was 12 that year, was wrestling at the junior level at the school he attended; and shortly before Christmas, there was a non-league match against a team sponsored by an inner-city church, mostly black. These youngsters, dressed in sneakers so ragged that shoestrings seemed to be the only thing holding them together, presented a sharp contrast to our boys in their spiffy blue and gold uniforms and sparkling new wrestling shoes. As the match began, I was alarmed to see that the other team was wrestling without headgear, a kind of light helmet designed to protect a wrestler's ears. It was a luxury the ragtag team obviously could not afford. Well, we ended up walloping them. We took every weight class. And as each of their boys got up from the mat, he swaggered around in his tatters with false bravado, a kind of street pride that couldn't acknowledge defeat. Mike, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, "I wish just one of them could have won," he said. "They have a lot of potential, but losing like this could take the heart right out of them." Mike loved kids-all kids-and he knew them, having coached little league football, baseball and lacrosse. That's when the idea for his present came. That afternoon, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought an assortment of wrestling headgear and shoes and sent them anonymously to the inner-city church. On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelope on the tree, the note inside telling Mike what I had done and that this was his gift from me. His smile was the brightest thing about Christmas that year and in succeeding years. For each Christmas, I followed the tradition---one year sending a group of mentally handicapped youngsters to a hockey game, another year a check to a pair of elderly brothers whose home had burned to the ground the week before Christmas, and on and on. The envelope became the highlight of our Christmas. It was always the last thing opened on Christmas morning and our children, ignoring their new toys, would stand with wide-eyed anticipation as their dad lifted the envelope from the tree to reveal its contents. As the children grew, the toys gave way to more practical presents, but the envelope never lost its allure. The story doesn't end there. You see, we lost Mike last year due to dreaded cancer. When Christmas rolled around, I was still so wrapped in grief that I barely got the tree up. But Christmas Eve found me placing an envelope on the tree, and in the morning, it was joined by three more. Each of our children, unbeknownst to the others, had placed an envelope on the tree for their dad. The tradition has grown and someday will expand even further with our grandchildren standing around the tree with wide-eyed anticipation watching as their fathers take down the envelope. Mike's spirit, like the Christmas spirit, will always be with us. May we all remember Christ, who is the reason for the season, and the true Christmas spirit this year and always.

HUMP~DAY by Rebecca

Hi Everybody and welcome to another HUMPDAY!!
Today I was thinking that everyone is so busy around this time. Most are doing extra hours at work, dealing with more traffic, and trying to figure out how to balance everything. You need something that allows you and your mate to be together in a relaxing way that's still romantic and sexy. It doesn't always have to be a 'so the book says my legs have to be where' situation. Therefore my friends I give to you the SPOON as told by men'shealth.com:
Spoon

How to: The classic Sunday morning sex position, the spoon is highly romantic and allows for a slow, luxurious ride in which you're both likely to last a long time. Enter the spoon while you're both on one side, facing in the same direction. Have her draw her knees up slightly, then tuck up behind her pelvis so you can enter from behind.

Switch it up: By adjusting the lean of your bodies, you'll vary the angle of entry and your latitude to thrust.
Hope you enjoy!
Rebecca :)

HBR ~ Around the House Beauty by Thumper

Here are some tricks and tips from items that you have around the house to create beauty products. Many of these secrets were taken from the book "The World's Best Kept Beauty Secrets" by Diane Irons.

For cellulite, scrub the skin with a bristle brush or loofah. Brush in slow sweeps, always toward the heart. There are gloves and mitts available to do this, but they're not necessary. Try to do this at least five minutes every day.
Also for cellulite - Copy the expensive herbal wraps offered by top spas. Mix a cup of corn oil with 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice and 2 teaspoons dried thyme. Massage into hip, thigh, and buttock areas. Cover with plastic wrap to lock in body heat. For extra results lay a heating pad over each area for five minutes.
Right from the can, Crisco is a big secret among beautiful women. Use it to remove makeup and as a highly effective moisturizer. Hospitals even use it to treat psoriasis and eczema.
Raw potato slices contain potassium to take away dark circles under the eye.
To lighten age spots and sun-damaged skin, mix the juice of 1 lemon, 1 lime, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 2 ounces of plain yogurt. Gently massage into each spot. Use at least once a week.
The best leave-in conditioner for your hair is nothing other than laundry room fabric softener. It's very strong, so be sure to dilute it. Suggestions: 1 cup water, 1/2 cup fabric softener.
Parsley is rich in chlorophyll. It is a major ingredient in leading breath fresheners, such as Clorets and Certs. Don't spend lots of money for internal breath fresheners, eat parsley!
Create your own tinted lip gloss. Simply mix any of your favorite lipsticks with a dab of Vaseline.
A little bit of red or orange in the center of the lips makes them look fuller.
To make the whites of your eyes look brighter, use a light blue pencil under the eyes. Blue eye shadow lightly applied under the eyes works just as well.
When coloring hair - Color hair that has not been washed for 1 day. The natural hair oils will assist in making the hair color application more successful. The color will cling better to hair that is not dry.
To alleviate puffy, swollen eyes place bags of frozen peas under the eyes.
Degrease oily hair with witch hazel when you don't have time to shampoo. Apply to roots with a cotton ball.
To help relieve dandruff, add 30 plain aspirin to a full bottle of your regular shampoo. Apply and rinse as usual.
To make you own facial mask, mix a handful of 100% all-natural kitty litter with a 1/2 cup water and apply a facemask.
Manicure - Mix one cup of warm water and the juice of one-half lemon. Soak your fingertips for five minutes. Rinse and pat dry, pushing back cuticles. Rub lemon peel against your nails, back and forth vigorously. Finish by buffing with a soft cloth.
Your nail polish will always be smooth and easy to apply if you store it in the refrigerator. Frosted nail polish will not separate. However, if it has hardened or is gummy, place the bottle in a pan of boiling water. The polish will be like new.
Oily skin holds perfume scents longer than dry skin. So, before applying perfume, rub a very thin layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly on your skin and you will smell delicious for hours.
To remove the redness from pimples, rub a tiny spot of visine on the pimple.
Worried about cellulite? Rub used coffee grounds where the problem exists (cellulite cream is mostly caffeine based).
To raise the ph level of shampoo, add aspirin to it.
Need an emery board and can't find one? You can use the strike plate on a book of matches.
Rubbing Pepto-Bismal® on your skin is a better facial than peel off masks.

HUMP~DAY - The Pretzel by Rebecca

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to another wonderful HUMPDAY everybody! I hope everyone is enjoying their day so far. I was thinking about what to do for this week's HUMPDAY installment. I know I usually find a awesome position from our friends at cosmo.com, but I was thinking what do the men have to offer? So I checked out menshealth.com, and was pleasantly surprised. When I saw this position, I was like yep... this is the one! Maybe someone will step out on a limb, and let us know if this one is as cool, and sexy/satisfying, as it looks! So without further fanfare folks, here it is.
THE PRETZEL

How to: She lies on her left side. You kneel between her legs, curling her right leg around your right side and straddling her left leg. Use your hands to bring her toward you. You get the deep penetration of doggy style, but maintain the face-to-face contact she loves.
Switch it up: Your right arm is perfectly positioned to tuck under her right leg to lend a helping hand. Perfect for: A romantic, pleasurable night.

So what do you think folks?! Let me know!
Rebecca :)

Thursday~HRB by Drea

Tomas and Elois From An UnBirthday Treat supplied this Thursday's Topic....its more along the side of health so check out what they had to say ...AND REMEMBER that our health is so important you guys thought i had probably forgotten but as my birthday is Sunday, its time for my annual good doctor visit. Only time some one other than me or CWB gets to manhandle the melons....GRRRR but hey i am going so you guys need to buck up...how bout this ...I won't threaten to sucker punch the doctor in her knockers this year if you guys get up and go too.

http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=jM8A9IFb6NE&feature=related

Lots of you have asked me if there was more to Tomas & Elois, I have always contended that there was but that the two didn't want to share. However Tomas started banging on my door this morning demanding that he had something to say to all my friends, loved ones and fans. What you expected me to deny the man his chance to tell more of his passionate story? I think a lobotomy would be easier...he is really persistent. I told him I had other stories to write...one that's due out before Christmas and he should have told his tell when it was his turn. OMG who knew men could be this bitchy, Eloise was encouraging him and all of a sudden he used that panty droppin voice on me so i sat down and started listening... .I told him I was gonna tell cwb on him and he laughed but then he stopped using the voice...what follows is what Tomas had to say, that was so important he wouldn't let me sleep last night.

It was nearly Christmas. You could smell the holiday in the air. Frost and snow covered everything outside and inside the house was filled with tantalizing aromas of ham slow roasting with a honey glaze. The fire was bright and cackling and all the traditional decorations for Christmas were artfully placed by three well meaning, if over excited bundles of joy. One would expect to hear the children clamoring down the hallway, glasses or mugs clicking in toast, laughter and conversation. Yes, that's what one would expect, but the opposite was true. The room was warm but silent, save for the occasional ruffle of clothing or sniffle as someone held back tears.

Tomas sat with their youngest son Graham on his lap. He stared in wonder at the curly brown head. How could they have just celebrated his arrival here and then today be mourning the loss of his Godmother. As the last of the guest walked out the front door, He raised his head to look at his wife of 10 years. Eloise was beautiful to him, even in her mourning, she radiated love and warmth. Tomas knew she was missing her close friend, but she'd opened her arms and their home to Angeline's family and other friends. She made herself their center, their port of call during this harsh time, when one should have been immersed in festivities. Angeline and Elois had lived life like twins. Adventures, love all of it had been intertwined. It had been devastating to both women when Angie had learned too late she'd had breast cancer. Elois had raged. How could someone so smart, so intelligent not have regular check ups. But Angie had lived life for the next rush. Moving from one epic adventure to the other, with out ever having so much as a common cold. When she'd began to fill sick and not have any strength, she and Eloise argued nightly about her need to go to the doctor. She'd been over to visit with the kids when she passed out in the kitchen. Little Graham had run to his brothers, insisting the twins help he with his angel. The older boys thought he'd meant the angel for the Christmas tree. At six the twins thought they were grown and had decided they could replace the ornament themselves. When they went to the kitchen to get a chair on which to stand, they found the fallen angel that had graham in tears. They'd dialed 911 and then called Tomas home explaining that Auntie Angel was sleeping on the floor in the kitchen and their cookies were burning in the oven. Here they were on the eve of Christmas eve. Missing one of the Key elements of the season. Of their lives. The cancer that had resided in Angeline's breast had been slowly spreading through out her body. Her sudden decline in health was the result of it taking over the last of her organs. The doctors had been powerless to save her. Any treatment would only add to her agonizing pain. The doctors had taken a moment to speak with each female present at the hospital, ensuring them that if they but only test regularly most their lives could be saved. Had Angeline gone to any of the hundreds of appointments she'd scheduled then canceled her life may have been spared. But what ifs and should haves were pointless.

Rising slowly he walked with Graham towards Eloise and wrapped her into his arms with their son. Standing for a moment he inhaled, just relishing this time, burning it into his memory and willing Elois to do so as well.

"Hey Alice, lets put this little mouse to bed and have a rest, twiddle Dee and Dum will be home tomorrow and it will be full steam ahead"

He guided his love down the hall, stopping briefly to put Graham to bed. Removing his miniature suit he smiled as the child curled into his side. Graham cuddled the teddy bear that Angeline had just given him for his birthday and snuffled out a little sigh. Elois pulled the blankets up over the baby and ran her finger through his curls. Love and sadness poured from her eyes.

Arm and arm Tomas and Eloise made their way down the hall to their room. Once inside Tomas sat Elois on the edge of the bed and slowly removed her clothes. As he removed each shoe he massaged her stocking covered feet, before easing the dark nylons offer her legs and wadding them up. He had Elois stand before him and he lifted the simple black sheath dress over head and tossed it too onto the floor. He made short work of her black bra then wrapped her his flannel pajama top. Pushing slightly he guided her back on to the bed, then gathered her discarded clothes and tossed them into the hamper. Tomas changed into his own pajamas and tee shirt before starting the fire in their hearth and climbing into bed..

As soon as he settled back against the head board Eloise climbed into his lap and wiggled her way between his legs with her back to his front. Once she was settled she leaned her dark head back against his shoulder and nuzzled her nose into the side of his neck. They sat that way gazing into the flames. Each reflecting on thier life and their blessings.

After a time Eloise began to open the button on the pajama top. She kept her gaze forward so she didn't see the questioning look one Tomas's face. When she had every button undone, she placed her hands on Tomas's and slowly brought them up her torso to rest inside the shirt on her breast. Once his hands where in place, she raised her arms further over her head and then linked her fingers behind Tomas's neck. At this angle her breast were thrust out further into Tomas's hands. Understanding came slowly, but it came and Tomas began to slowly move his fingers over her velvety coal skin. He touched her with reverence and love, but he touched her slowly and firmly, relearning the curves of her breast. The breast that had not only nursed and comforted his sons, but himself. He committed the weight and shape to his mind, to the very molecular make up of his fingers and palms. He spent what cold have been hours with his eyes closed and his fingers molding and shaping the heavy flesh. Finally when, he felt Eloise release her linked hands and bring her arms down. He stopped his ministrations and wrapped her in his arms. Turning slowly, Tomas rolled them to one side and tucked her in close to his body.

Finally they slept.

HUMP~DAY---Doorway Play by Rebecca

Hi Y'all,
I know the holiday season is upon us and many of us are prep mode. I mean there is so much to do! There's shopping for presents, making all that food, putting wreaths on doors... hey speaking of doors(gotta love a segue), why not try out this sexy position I found on cosmo.com
to make that task of wreath hanging, or anything else you were planning to do to your door, better!
Rebecca :)

Doorway Play

Standing-up sex can be a challenge, unless there's some solid structure for support...like a door frame. For this pose, have your guy squat with his back against one side of a doorway. His thighs should be parallel to the floor, and he can put his hands behind his lower back for cushioning. Stand facing away from him, spread your legs so they're on either side of his, and then back up onto his member.

Once you're positioned, bend forward and push against the opposite door frame with your palms. This helps you balance and allows you to control your gyrations and vary the speed and depth of penetration. You're in the driver's seat, so mix up your moves — swivel your hips back and forth in a circular pattern or figure eights — and experiment to see what feels best.
